By profession I am an archaeologist and by inclination, I am an educationist. I see an opportunity to educate in almost every situation of unstructured self-organizing interaction outside the classroom and love to put my imagination to work to see how these can be incorporated to enhance the learning and teaching experience. Technology was my natural ally in this. My earliest insights into the potential of technology for shaping enriched learning experiences came from toying with graphical tools for better representations of subject matter and recognizing the possibilities for conceptual and processual learning embedded in computer games. In my varied formal and informal teaching experiences in India and interactions with students of different grade levels (for more information on these, please see my resume) I was exposed to school and university curricular and teaching practices that made me realize the necessity for social science education in India to evolve beyond the didactic, note taking, rote learning black board style and be much more innovative, relevant, engaging and experiential. This is what brought me to Iowa State University to pursue a Masters degree in Instructional Technology that led me on an incredible personal and professional journey of discovering my own potential as an instructional designer, giving shape to my passion for designing meaningful learning experiences using technology and widening my field for realizing these goals. This portfolio gives a glimpse of the skills I acquired in these past years and the process of maturity that accompanied it.
