Kajal Madeka's Digital Portfolio
The competency of Technology Planning and Integration will be demonstrated through three artifacts
Artifact 2: Technology and Media
Artifact 2 is the digital portfolio created as part of CI 501. This portfolio showcased all the products created during the course of the class, such as photo-essay, media critique, video project, brochure and poster design. The exercise that went into their making laid the foundation of understanding principles of design and the mutually causal relationship between technology and media and how they interact to create the desired message. Without this foundational knowledge, I may not have been able to undertake the redesign project (Artifact1) as effectively as I did, nor design effective and engaging instruction.
Artifact 3: Digital Story
I came into the field of Instructional Technology after a full and rich career as an archaeologist, with the intention of learning how to use technology to enhance the teaching and learning of Archaeology. The creation of the digital story in CI 505 was the first opportunity I had to tell my story tangibly and apply the concepts of instructional technology to my instructional context. I progressed from media exploration to weaving different bits of information together into an engaging story with instructional elements. The theme I chose was rather ambiguous – to convey the “romance” of Archaeology – but in putting it together, it taught me the elements of building a good narrative (and good instruction!). The story can be viewed by clicking on the embedded video link above.
Artifact 1: Online Course Redesign
The first artifact for this competency forms the capstone project in which the principles of instructional design, online course design, technology supported learning and distance education learned during the course of the M.Ed., were all brought together and implemented to redesign an existing online doctoral level course in a real world, professional context of a Midwestern University. The final product of the redesign is presented as an online report complete with references, screen shots and video captures. The final report can be downloaded or viewed from the button link on the left.
